The Colonial Bar & Grille was established in 1965 by my father, Joseph Kobus. Tired of working for other employers, he took a risk and decided to buy The Cotton Club on the corner of Holmes Rd. and Logan St. (today Martin Luther King Boulevard). He immediately changed the name to The Colonial Bar & Grille. In 1974 he built the present Colonial Bar on the same property.
After graduating from Albion College in 1978, I, John Kobus, began working for my father. In the early 90's, I took control of the business, although my father was, and still is, available for consultation and support. In fact, you can find my father and mother, Bernie, sitting in their favorite booth around lunchtime, Monday thru Friday.
The Colonial Bar & Grille, despite the uncertain economy over the past few years, is still thriving. We invite you to stop by and get to know us.
